Arthur Karp, M.Ed;CCC

Bio:

Arthur completed his Master’s degree and training in Counselling through the University of Ottawa and is nationally certified with the Canadian Counselling Association. He currently serves on the executive board for the national capital region chapter of the Canadian Counselling Association.

He is affiliated with a team of health care professionals with an integrated wellness practice through the Vitallife centre in the heart of Westboro. Arthur is compassionate and committed to supporting and making a difference in the lives of his clients while working collaboratively. His approach includes gaining clarity with the presenting concern and discovering hope while quickly connecting and earning the client’s trust.

Arthur has extensive counselling experience with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and career coaching.

Has been a Guidance specialist with a provincial school board, employed by a family service agency, affiliated with Algonquin College, McMaster University, Health Canada. At one time served as a clinical practicum supervisor to students enrolled in the Master’s program in counselling at St. Paul’s University. Presently, consults through corporate employee and family assistance programs (EAP) and effectively utilizes a solution-focused  approach, while delivering career coaching through Career Coaching International.

Arthur’s area of practice includes individual, couple, family, conflict resolution, anger management, coping with stress/anxiety, dealing with grief, life changes, crisis intervention, career transition, layoffs, retirement preparation. He has completed professional development training in cognitive behavioural therapy, brief-solution focused, trauma debriefing, use of personality assessment tools such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Enneagram.

Arthur enjoys nature hikes, cycling, golf, maintaining personal fitness, yoga, along with being passionate about music/arts.
